Configuring geo restriction
You can grant or deny access to customers based on their geographic location. CloudPortal Business Manager comes integrated with a geolocation application that is used to arrive at the geographic location of users. The country is identified from the IP address of the user. You can provide a list of countries that are either blacklisted or whitelisted. You can specify ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codes for countries and either allow or deny users from these countries to sign up. These lists are used for users of all account types. You can specify the lists from the Account Management pane of the CloudPortal Business Manager UI.
- When a user attempts to sign up from the Sign Up page.
- When a Root User attempts to sign up a user.
If a user tries to access the portal from a country that you have marked as blacklisted, the geolocation application rejects the login attempt and directs the user to the CloudPortal support page. A country whitelist always takes precedence over a country blacklist. For example, If a country is marked in the whitelist and also in the blacklist, the country is treated as whitelisted.
- Log in to the CloudPortal Business Manager UI as Root user.
- Click the drop-down menu icon next to ROOT USER in the top right corner and click Administration.
- Click Configuration > Account Management > Onboarding.
- Click Configure, and then click Edit.
- In the Value box for the parameter counrty.whitelist, enter the lSO 3166-1 alpha-2 country codes separated by commas. This is the whitelist of countries from which users are allowed to sign in. For more information on 3166-1 alpha-2 ISO country codes, go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1_alpha-2.
- In the Value box for the parameter country.blacklist, enter lSO 3166-1 alpha-2 country codes separated by commas. This is the blacklist of countries from which users are not allowed to sign in.
- Click Save to save your changes and then click Close to close the dialog box.
