CloudPlatform "Campo" release date

What is the CloudPlatform "Campo" release date or even approximate release date?

Will the Campo release include support for VM instances to have multiple IP addresses?

Cannot open instance console

I have my cloud up and running but I cannot view the console of any of my instances. The browser opens a new windows which then gives an error of the operation timed out trying to contact <IP>.realhostip.com.

I cannot see any problems with the system VM and all browsers are the same.

I am running CloudPlatform 3.0.5 patch1 can anyone provide any help getting this working.

Thanks

Maintenance ?

Hello,

If i want to do maintenance on the cloudplatform, how do i make sure that nobudy is uploading
isos/templates or do anything that will leave the system in an inconsistent state, before i stop the cloud-management-1 service.

Kind regards

Not able to create a new instance

Hi Team,

I was in process of creating my initial private cloud. I have followed the "CloudStack Advanced Installation Guide" and successfully configured cloud stack. I have configured cloud stack with VMWare as my hypervisor.

I followed the below steps to create the instance.

Now i am trying to create my new instances.
Go to the Instances tab, and filter by My Instances.
. Click Add Instance and follow the steps in the wizard.
. Choose the zone you just added.
. In the template selection, choose the template to use in the VM.

Here i dont see any template to choose. But when i see the template in "template" screen i can the see the template.

Also i tried to create new template using OVA and it says status as "No". I waited for more then an hour.

System VMs not successfully starting with CloudPlatform 3.0.6/XenServer 6.1) Trial Installation

I am attempting to setup a trial installation following the steps followed in the CloudPlatform Master Class (and Trial Installation Guide). After pressing the Launch button, the operation never completes (i.e. the progress indication continues to spin and no success message is displayed). When I subsequently log into CloudPlatform UI and inspect the Infrastructure, I see that the status for the System VMs is Starting.

i've attached the management-server.log and catalina.out file where i see things like:

Newbie - Troubleshooting after not being able to access UI

I finished the trial installation. Then I went to access the URL by going to http://management-server-address:8080/client, but only get Page Cannot be Found. I disabled the firewall, but still no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

F5 LB - Guest VLAN Advanced Zone

Hi Team,

I'm facing some issues while creating Guest Network . Below is the response which I got from CloudStack Community . I could have asked in this forum hence started a new thread here

My comments on Venkata's reply below

Can you paste the API that was fired from logs? You will see this kind of error only when CIDR specified.

Attched the MAN log for reference

Which version of cloudstack you are using?

CloudPlatform 3.0.6

Sorry typo error

Pasting below

If I didn't specify CIDR, Below UI status message appears

Cannot specify CIDR when using network offering with external devices!

Hi Anoop,

createNetwork automatically generates a random unique CIDR in case if there are external devices used for some of the service. Please try creating guest n/w without CIDR and it should solve the issue.

Thanks,
SWAMY

Hi Venkat,

I tried as you stated below. But still not able to create guest network.

Setup Details.

1. Created New NW Offerings with services Capabilities as Dhcp:
VirtualRouter, Lb: F5BigIp, Dns: VirtualRouter, Vpn: VirtualRouter,
Firewall: VirtualRouter, StaticNat: VirtualRouter, UserData:
VirtualRouter, PortForwarding: VirtualRouter, SourceNat: VirtualRouter

2. Login with Admin user of newly created domain and try creating guest network using new NW offerings. Even I tried with users under ROOT domain as well

If I specify CIDR for guest , then it throws below error

2013-04-24 10:07:17,252 ERROR [cloud.api.ApiDispatcher]
(catalina-exec-1:null) Exception while executing CreateNetworkCmd:
com.cloud.utils.exception.CloudRuntimeException: Can't design network Ntwk[-1|Guest|18]; guest CIDR is not configured per zone
com.cloud.dc.DataCenterVO$$EnhancerByCGLIB$$f8cfc3d7@1

If I specify CIDR, Below UI status message appears

Cannot specify CIDR when using network offering with external devices!

About the error you mentioned here is due to the fact that in the NetworkOffering you selected "source nat type" as 'per zone'. In case of VR providing SNAT service, we only support 'PER account'.

The guest VLANs which need to Integrate to CloudStack doesn't exist in F5. I'm using BIG-IP 9.4.7.

I'm following below wiki

http://wiki.cloudstack.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=11830811

:PF/Static NAT services should present in the guest network. But I don't see those services in the network you have mentioned.

Yes I created a Network offerings with Static NAT works. Every Time I have to acquire new Public IP address and assign to VM's created under isolated Tenant.

Now Facing below issue.

Add F5 device and enabled.

When I use combination of VR Services and F5 LB Service as new Network offerings, and try spawning VM's using the same getting below error

2013-04-19 16:43:31,788 ERROR [cloud.api.ApiDispatcher]
(catalina-exec-15:null) Exception while executing
CreateNetworkOfferingCmd:
com.cloud.exception.UnsupportedServiceException: Service SourceNat doesn't support value "perzone" for capability SupportedSourceNatTypes on VirtualRouter

com.cloud.utils.exception.CloudRuntimeException: Can't design network Ntwk[-1|Guest|17]; guest CIDR is not configured per zone
com.cloud.dc.DataCenterVO$$EnhancerByCGLIB$$f8cfc3d7@1

Is there any doc available or could you recommend in which I can create Network offerings for Isolated Guest Network using VLAN with external Network devices and VR services

VM licensing with KMS Server

Hello, I am doing a public cloud, but after VM is lunched then the virtual router could not reach the KMS server in order to activate the windows server!, I am using Citrix cloud platform and portal, so how the cloud platform can communicate with the KMS server after launching the VM?

Unable to Add Host

I have finished the trial install, logged into the UI and started the initial config of the Cloud trial. I was able to enter the Zone, Cluster, POD and storage information. Finally, I was able to enter the information for the host, which for me is Xenserver 6.2. I enter the IP address (which is pingable) username (root) and password, then select "Launch" on the following screen. Everything appears to be configuring except the host where I receive the message "Unable to Add Host". I checked the /var/log/cloud/management/management-server.log and the access log, but could not find any errors. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a question regarding VPC.

I want to throttle bandwidth between the internet and the VPC Network, i do not want to throttle

I know how to throttle the bandwidth on normal routers, but how do i do it on a VPN internet router, as i am not able to choose the Network router. ?

I do however have the possibility to choose the Network router when i define the vpc Network (tier).

- hope sombdy can help me with this..

Unable to start cloud-management service

This is a new installation of CCP 3.0.6-x on CentOS 6.2 , the installation completes OK with no errors but the cloud-management service does not come up, when I check it with *service cloud-management status* I get this message:

service cloud-management status
cloud-management dead but pid file exists
The pid file locates at /var/run/cloud-management.pid and lock file at /var/lock/subsys/cloud-management.
Starting cloud-management will take care of them or you can manually clean up.

I tried deleting the pid file and restarting the service, still no go

Any ideas ?

CloudStack VM view console throwing up debug info

CloudStack VM view console throwing up debug info

I'm having some strange behaviour when I try to view the console from the management server UI. When I click on the view console icon I get a blue bar with Ctrl+Alt+Del, Ctrl+Esc, Keyboard and a black circle at the far right. I don't see the Linux prompt and when I click on the black circle I get a lot of debug info as shown in the attachment. This happens with all the vms (all Linux).

I don't see anything in the cloud-managment log to suggest anything.

Has anyone seen anything similar and how did they resolve the issue?

Thanks.

Virtual Router VM No operating system found.

Greetings,

I m using CCP , and added a cluster with 2 hosts which has VMware hypervisor.
Now CCP creates 3 internal VM's : Virtual Router VM , Console Proxy VM and System Storage VM.
When I m adding an instance the virtual router VM is restarting and saying
"Warning message from <ipaddress>: No operating system was found. If you have an operating system installation disc, you can insert the disc into the system's CD-ROM drive and restart the virtual machine."

Through vSphere Client console of the virtual router VM if i check also it also displays "No Operating System"

The Virtual Router VM is created by CCP only, then y isnt it able to get the OS?

Kindly guide me as to what i m doing wrong?

CloudService.exe - What does it do?

I can read the service' description but I was wondering if someone could tell me exactly what that service does? There's no mention of the service in the admin/install guide for CP 3.0.6 however based on my first look it seems like it's a Citrix CP related service. The service was using quite a bit of CPU on a few VMs and I was wondering what functionality would be lost would the service be disabled (or is the service a requirement?)

TIA

Erik

Instance rebooted, volume gone.

I ran into a problem with CloudPlatform 3.0.6 and I'm curious to know if anyone experienced a similar problem.

Someone (who doesn't have access to CP GUI) was logged in to an instance and suddenly got disconnected (the RDP session timed out) and he couldn't reconnect. Someone with access to the GUI confirmed the VM was unavailable via console proxy (unfortunately the error message wasn't documented) so the instance was rebooted. When the instance was back online, it still wasn't accessible via RDP so it was accessed via the web console. The web console showed a Windows mini-setup screen which leads me to believe the VM was somehow re-attached to the template used to create it originally.

I've reviewed the management-server log for the hour of the incident and the hour preceding it and I did find multiple copies of the same entry which has me worried:

There are no Consoles available to the vm : Clones of this template will automatic
ally provision their storage when first booted and then reconfigure themselves with the optimal settings for Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit)

The error message was repeated several times throughout the day and appears to have stopped within the same hour the event occurred.

TIA for the help.

network configuration - order of activities

network configuration - order of activities

Wonder if someone can provide some guidance on the order of activities when configuring xenserver host networks.

Traditionally with xenserver the pool is created and then networks configured, the pool master then pushes out changes. I'm assuming this isn't the case with CloudPlatform, and that the only pre-config work i need to do in xencenter is give the networks on the hosts the correct labels that match those that will be configured in CloudPlatform?

I have 5 NICs on each host and intend to configure as follows:

NIC0 = Generic management network
NIC1 = Primary management interface; label = cloud-mgmt
NIC2 = Guest; label = cloud-guest
NIC2 = Public; label = cloud-public
NIC3 + NIC4 (bonded) = Storage

So, do I:

1. Create networks on the xenserver hosts with the appropriate labels
2. Create the zone/pod/cluster physical networks with the relevant network labels to match those in Xenserver
3. Add the first host to the CloudPlatform cluster which will automatically create the Xenserver pool
4. Add subsequent hosts to the CloudPlatform cluster which will automatically receive the correct config for the pool

Or do I configure the pool in xenserver and then do the CloudPlatform config bits?

Apologies if this is a bit of a basic question, i'm fairly new to CP

CloudPlataform - Hyper-V support?

CloudPlataform - Hyper-V support?

Hello.

Here in our business we want to add a cloud solution service to our customers, so we download the trial version of CloudPlataform to test it, but we use Hyper-V as hypervisor.

After 'digging' the web for information, we found that there is no 'native' support for Hyper-V, but there is a plugin for CloudStack.

We keep researching the web for info, but we couldnt find any information about this plugin on CloudPlataform and if it works well or not.

Can someone please clarify this for me? Is it possible to have a good Citrix CloudPlataform perfomance using Hyper-V as hypervisor? Please note that change the hypervisor is not an option for us, because we already have a lot ot of VMs running on it.

Thanks very much for you attention, looking forward for some help.

deployVirtualMachine API call error - Ambiguous Service Offering
Avatar

deployVirtualMachine API call error - Ambiguous Service Offering

I'm trying to program the deployment of VMs and am running into an issue with certain service offering / template combinations.

I'm specifying serviceofferingid, templateid and zoneid, since these are mandatory parameters to the deployVirtualMachine call, and I'm also specifying networkids since I have more than one isolated network and not doing so throws a different error.

Some combinations of serviceofferingid and templateid work OK, but some throw up an error:

{"deployvirtualmachineresponse":{"errorcode":499,"errortext":"Ambiguous Service Offering, found more than one product bundles that match SO: <id> and template: <id>"}}

I assume therefore that there is another optional parameter I need to specify for these combinations, but am at a loss to work out what it could be.

I've tried "over-specifying" the deployVirtualMachine call by specifying the hypervisor even though I think that's implied in the SO/template combination, but that throws the same error.

Any idea which other parameters might be at fault, or if there's something else wrong?

(If it makes any difference, I'm driving the API from Python using https://github.com/jasonhancock/cloudstack-python-client

using a call like:

cs.deployVirtualMachine({'serviceofferingid': SO_MEDIUM,
'templateid': T_ID,
'zoneid': Z_ID,
'networkids': N_ID,
'hypervisor': 'XenServer',
'ipaddress':'10.20.30.99',
'name':'server001'})

where SO_MEDIUM, T_ID, Z_ID and N_ID are Template, network and zone IDs determined from earlier listServiceOfferings, listTemplates, listZones and listNetworks calls)
