Image Manager 3.5

The ImageManager installer is located in the ShadowProtect Start menu.

  1. Install ImageManager using the installer defaults. You may specify a service password, but this step is optional.
  2. Start ImageManager, and select Connect to Server from the File pull-down menu.

  3. If a password was specified, enter it in the connection window, otherwise, click Connect.

  4. Once ImageManager is connected, click the New button under the Policies tab.

  5. Browse to the directory where ShadowProtect saves its backups if the backups are stored on a local disk. Otherwise, type or paste in the UNC path to the backup location.

    If the files are located on a UNC path you will need to configure the Image Manager Service to Log on as an account with permissions to access the share. See the following StorageCraft Article for further details:

  6. Make sure you have checked the Enable Collapse and Keep redundant collapse files. If required you can modify the default retention policy to suit the needs of each client. Click OK.

  7. The new policy will be shown in the policy window, and ImageManager can be closed. Protecting Machines with ShadowProtect and rCloud

Image Manager 4.1.x

  1. Install ImageManager using the installer defaults.
  2. Start Image Manager and enter a New Password that will be used to access Image Manager.
  3. Select Start Managing Folders under Managed Folder Tasks in the left column.

  4. Click the ellipsis button next to the Folder Path field to select a local hard drive. If the files are stored on a network share, type or paste in the UNC path into the Folder Path field.

  5. If the backup location requires authentication, check This folder requires authentication and select the type of authentication necessary. Click Save to continue.

  6. The new policy will be displayed.

  7. Click Consolidation Settings in the Managed Folder Tasks section of the right hand column.

  8. Set the Retention policy to suit the needs of each client.

    NOTE: Typically, the Move consolidated image files… check box would be left unchecked to allow the files to be deleted to save space. It is prudent to adjust downward the number of days that files are kept. This also will save storage space.

  9. Click Save and exit Image Manager.
ImageManager 5.0.x - 6.x

  1. Install ImageManager using the installer defaults.
  2. Start Image Manager and enter a New Password that will be used to access Image Manager.
