Migrate MGMT to new hardware

I'm thinking of migrating the MGMT server to new hardware.  I figured I would:

- Install CCP (same version) on new hardware

- Setup data replication to a dedicated DB server

- Configure primary MGMT server to stop managing XenClusters, restart.

- Disconnect CCP from Clusters

- Verify DB replication is up to speed

- Take a backup of the DB

- Finish setup of secondary MGMT server and connect to the dedicated DB server

- Connect clusters in CCP

- Configure MGMT to manage XenClusters again, restart.

Question: Would it matter if the OS version on the old and the new, as long as the version of CCP is the same?

Migrate MGMT to new hardware

I don't think that is the right way to go about this, since I've used a much simpler process in the past.

Remember, you hypervisors/VMs will continue to run while CCP is down.

1. Install CCP (same version) on new server(s).

2. Shutdown CCP and MySQL.

3. Copy DB files to new server and make sure data is available.

4. Start CCP on new server.

5. Bask in the glory that is CCP... ;-)

Obviously some steps have been omitted, like making sure new CCPs are configured to talk to DB.

Sorry, missed the second question. The OS version shouldn't matter, as long as it's supported by CCP.
