Using the console proxy

Using the console proxy

I've searched through all the docs I can find and can't seem to understand how the console proxy VM is used from an external address.  For starters, I only want to use it in http mode to make things simple.

I saw in the admin guide that the proper url would be http://<proxy vm public ip>/<token>

But there's no explanation of what the "token" is or where it comes from.  And what do you see when you go to that url?  How do you differentiate between the different VMs that are running?

I'm assuming by "from an external address" you mean not having to go to the CloudPlatform WebUI. I'm not sure that is suppose to work. I know in older versions you could copy the URL from a just launched console session and reuse in another window, but I seem to remember that only worked for a couple of minutes until the token (used for authentication between the management server and cpvm) expired. It may have worked longer from the same browser session (different tab) but I'm not sure.

I'm kind of surprised there isn't a API call to get a valid console session, but I couldn't find one in the docs.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
