Radia 7.9

Hi,

I would like to understand what is involved in upgrading from Radia 7.9 to Radia 10.x.

  1. What is the migration path
  2. Do I need new Infra?
  3. Do I need to do anything with existing packages or will they work with Radia 10.x
  4. Do I need to do anything from Radia perspective if I move from Win 7 to Win 10 as well?
  5. Also, Do I need to pay for any license fee?

You can call me to discuss the details.

Regards,

Vivek

Hi Vivek!

Concerning your questions:

1.    What is the migration path
The last migrations I did was from HPCA v7.8 to RCA v9.1 and RCA 9.2. I presume a migration from 7.9 to 10.x will be similar
2.    Do I need new Infra?
I have always set up the new Core server alongside the existing one, populated the new Core with the old Core content using Acclerite's upgrade scripts and some manual operations, and finally upgraded and moved the clients across to the new Core in a controlled manner using Accelerite's Agent upgrade package. This is the safest, and in my opinion, the best way to do it.
For the last upgrade I also created a satellite migration package that allowed me to upgrade the customer's 150 streamlined satellites hands-off.
The safest way to upgrade the full-service satellites would be to also set up new servers alongside the existing ones, but I presume an upgrade paackage could also be created and used, that way no new infrastructure would be required for the full-service satellites.
During the time it takes to move the clients across from the old infrastructure to the new infrastructure, the old and new infrastructure will share and use the same SQL DB
3.    Do I need to do anything with existing packages or will they work with Radia 10.x
    Your existing packages will work
4.    Do I need to do anything from Radia perspective if I move from Win 7 to Win 10 as well?
You need to make sure the new infrastructure is prepared for Win 10 by applying the latest maintenance, and you must configure the Radia Patch Manager for Win 10. And, of course create Win 10 image(s) and driverpacks if you also use the OS Manager
5.    Also, Do I need to pay for any license fee?
No, at least not for the migrations I have done

Best regards,

Arne
