1.1 Pre-Requisites

This section contains prerequisites for conducting a Trial of ConVirt. It has some general prerequisites as well as some platform specific prerequisites.

1.1.1 General

  • Connection to internet
  • Compute servers
  • Computer to install ConVirt or virtualization platform to run ConVirt Appliance.
  • Check out Support Matrix for ConVirt.
  • Installation Media : Some .iso files to test out creating new VM and doing installation.

1.2 Hyper-V Platform

  • Managed Servers (Hyper-V) : 2 Servers with fresh install of Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012-R2. With PowerShell remoting enabled.
  • NICS : 2 Nics. One for management and another for creating VM on isolated network. (For non-cloud, single nic might suffice)
  • Windows Proxy Server : Windows 2012 / Windows 2012 R2 virtual machine in the same domain as managed server. Should be able to run powershell command to managed server
  • ConVirt Virtual Machine : : Some resources on your servers to run ConVirt virtual Machine Appliance.

Following required only for Cloud Edition testing.

  • Network Service : Only required for Cloud Edition. One additional server or VM to be used as network service : with Ubuntu 12.04 or CentOS 5.x/6.x. This can be a virtual machine, with connectivity to
    • Management Network (to access)
    • Isolated network (for VM)
    • Public network (where the isolated VM may be made accessible via public IP)
  • VLAN IDs: A set of free VLAN Ids.
