You can update these products via Software Manager or Patch Manager, however, using Patch Manager requires that someone create the custom bulletins for any third party products you wish to manage on a regular basis. I create these custom bulletins, and many more third party products for my clients only as I am contractually bound by my employer. I work for a consulting firm and have yearly contract customers who get unlimited third party patch support. This means that I develop all custom third party bulletins upon request and deliver those bulletins to Radia admins.
Using Patch Manager to manage third party applications is the better solution than Software Manager in my opinion as it is much more efficient and you benefit from built-in compliance reporting. I have customers who have moved some third party applications from Software Manager to Patch Manager and have shaved off hours of development time per update.
