Getting started with CloudPortal Business Manager

 
 
 
This section gives overview of post installation activities that you have to perform after you have installed CloudPortal Business Manager and logged in to the CloudPortal Business Manager UI. Follow the links provided for detailed information for each activity.

  1. Add the service instances:

    As a service provider, you have to enable a cloud service and add instances of the cloud services that tenants can then enable for their accounts. Once a cloud service is enabled, tenants can start using it.

  2. Define the account types and attributes:

    User Account types determine the attributes, privileges, and the cloud service features that are available to the tenants of an account type. Based on the business needs, account types are defined during installation. After installation, as a service provider, you have to configure the attributes of each account type, such as onboarding controls, service controls, credit exposure, and billing controls.

  3. Create products and product bundles:
    A product is a basic unit of consumption in CloudPortal Business Manager. To enable users to consume the cloud services, the service provider must define the cloud products (for example, CPUs, memory, and so on) and their pricing and package them into product bundles. Users can then purchase these products and product bundles.
  4. Define the channels and channel catalogs:
    Channels represent groups of accounts. Channels are created to represent geographies, market segments, resellers, and so on. Every account is tied to a specific channel. Each channel has its own product catalog (consisting of products and product bundles), depending on the requirements of accounts belonging to that channel. You have to define channels and then create channel catalogs to inform and allow the channel users to purchase the products/product bundles.
  5. Configure the B/OSS components, if any:
    As a service provider, you need to configure the applications for your customer-facing support operations such as phone-based authentication, geoIP intelligence, trouble ticketing and customer care, online payments, fraud detection for online transactions, and so on.
  6. Configure billing cycles and billing configuration:

    The billing cycle determines when account statements and invoices are generated for the customer accounts and posted to the customers. Based on your billing policy, you have to configure the billing periods and other related settings.

  7. One-time CPBM Configurations

    CPBM has certain one-time settings, which you should not change after you start using CPBM and accounts have been created. For more information, refer to: One-time Configuration Settings
