Monitoring RouterVMs
Hi, there are several things you can normally monitor on a virtual router. I think the following will provide a good indication of the virtual router health.
8080/tcp - VM password reset service
80/tcp - Apache service for VM meta- and user-data
53/udp - DNS (dnsmasq)
Depending on the environment, these ports may or may not be accessible to your monitoring server. For example, they typically will not be accessible for virtual routers in isolated networks.
There are other services that may be running, depending on the configuration. For example, if you enable the VPN feature, you can monitor 500/udp (Openswan).
