Creating billing groups

A billing group is a group of channels (that belong to a reseller or distributor) formed for the purpose of billing. Cloud service providers usually sell their cloud services through resellers. A reseller could own more than one channel and the service provider has to bill the reseller/distributor for the aggregated usage. The cumulative usage of all products across all channels belonging to a billing category helps the service provider to bill the reseller/distributor for the actual product consumption. To facilitate this, you have to create billing group of all channels belonging to a reseller. You can assign a channel to a billing group either during channel creation or on editing a channel's settings. In case, the billing group does not exist, you can create a billing group either during channel creation or while editing a channel.

  1. Log in to CloudPortal Business Manager as Root user.
  2. In the Channels page, click Add New.
  3. In the Channel Details page, specify the billing group that the channels belongs to either by selecting from the list of existing groups or create a new billing group by typing its name in the text box.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the wizard.
Similarly, while editing channel settings, you can either select the billing group or type the billing group name to create a new billing group to which the channel will belong.
