By default, when a customer provisions a SharePoint instance for the first time, the first available SharePoint farm and SharePoint feature pack are configured and used to provision the instance. All subsequent SharePoint instances will use the already configured farm and feature pack. The service provider can override this behavior at the channel level by specifying a specific farm and/or feature pack on which the SharePoint instances of all accounts belonging to that channel get provisioned.
