Understanding B/OSS subsystems

 

Operational Support Systems are the systems used by service providers. It deals with the supporting processes such as maintaining network inventory, provisioning services, configuring network components, and managing faults.

 

Business support system refers to systems dealing with customers, supporting processes such as taking orders, processing bills, and collecting payments.

 

The two systems together are often abbreviated as BSS/OSS or B/OSS.

 

B/OSS contains processes and systems that support back-office activities within a network or customer facing activities.
