Snapshots
In general, a snapshot is the representation (read-only copy) of a storage volume or a VM at a point in time.
The snapshots that you take in the Volumes and Instances sections appear in the left pane. You can filter the snapshots by Volumes and Virtual machines.
Note: VM Snapshots are applicable from CloudPlatform 4.2 onwards.
Volume Snapshots:
The Details Pane: To view the details of a snapshot, select it in the left pane.
ID: A unique ID assigned by your service provider.
Name: A name assigned by your service provider, with the date and time of creation of the snapshot at the end.
Volume: The volume from which this snapshot was made.
State: Backed Up, In Progress, and so on.
Interval Type: This shows if the snapshot is a recurring snapshot.
Created: When this snapshot was created (time and date).
Account: The user who created this snapshot.
Domain: The domain assigned to this snapshot by your service provider.
The Gear Wheel Menu
In the snapshots tab, filter by volume, then select a snapshot and move your cursor over the gear wheel icon to see the actions that you can perform. You can create a volume or a template or both from this snapshot. You can also delete this snapshot.
Create Volume: Enter a unique name in the Name field. Select the check box to agree with the terms and conditions, and click OK.
Note: The volume that you create here appears in the list of volumes in the Volumes page.
Create Template: You can create a template from an existing snapshot. You can launch virtual machines based on this template.
Name: A unique name.
Display Text: A descriptive text.
OS Type: The Operating System type (CentOS, Debian, Fedora etc.)
Public: If you set this to Yes, other users will be able to view and use this template. If you set this value to No, only you can use this template.
Password Enabled: If you want this template to be password protected, set this to Yes.
Note: The templates that you create here appear in the Templates tab.
Virtual Machine Snapshots:
The Details Pane: To view the details of a snapshot, select it in the left pane.
ID: A unique ID assigned by your service provider.
Name: A name assigned by your service provider, with the date and time of creation of the snapshot at the end.
Description: Description for the snapshot.
Parent Name: Name of the parent snapshot.
Current: Whether the snapshot is current or not.
Type: Either disk or disk and memory
Virtual Machine: The Virtual Machine that the snapshot belongs to.
State: State of the snapshot.
Created: When this snapshot was created (time and date).

In the snapshots tab, filter by virtual machine, then select a snapshot and move your cursor over the gear wheel icon to see the actions that you can perform. You can revert VM to this snapshot. You can also delete this snapshot.
Revert VM to snapshot: Confirm your action by clicking Confirm.
Delete snapshot: Confirm your action by clicking Confirm.
Filtering snapshots
The Snapshots tab lists all snapshots. As a master user/power user/normal user, you can find a particular snapshot or snapshots by using the filter option. The option to filter is visible in the CPBM UI only if the CloudPlatform Connector version supports filter operation for snapshots.
- Log in to CloudPortal Business Manager UI as master user/power user/normal user.
- Either click My Services and then click the desired CloudPlatform service instance tab or click Manage Resources and then click the desired CloudPlatform service instance link.
- Click the Snapshots tab.
- In the Filter box, specify the snapshot type (either volume or virtual machine) and click Enter.
