Radia Patch Manager Update for Windows 10 1709 Branch
After the introduction of Windows 10 1709 Branch, Microsoft has introduced some changes in offline catalogue file (WSUSSCN2.cab). Due to these changes, we have found that Radia Patch Manager will need update to calculate branch information for Windows 10 1703 and 1607 branches during acquisition. The acquisition via WIN10* wild card and Windows 10 Wrapper policy entitlement are affected.
Scope of impact:
1. If WIN10* is used instead for acquisition, the Windows 10 branch information contains incorrect updates pertaining to below:
- The patches for 1703 branches are being marked incorrectly to 1709.
- If 1703 alone is selected, we find that none of the patches are getting acquired.
2. In addition, Windows 10 Wrapper policies do not work correctly.
3. For Windows 10 branches, if Radia patch acquisition and entitlement is done using the wild card expression MS-KB*, everything will work as usual.
Solution:
We have fixed the issue in all the supported Radia versions and we’ll make the Hotfixes available as soon as we can.
In case you are using WIN10* acquisition & Windows 10 Wrapper Policies in your production or test environment, please talk to our support and they’ll share the updated binaries for you to test and deploy.
If MS-KB* is being used for acquisition and entitlement, there will be no problems and Windows 10 end points running branches 1607,1703 or 1709 will be patched successfully.
To enable the support for 1709 branch on Windows 10, a few configuration steps need to be followed. Follow the link below to download instructions and scripts to enable the support on CSDB.
