Java Runtime Environment (JRE) - Update Accelerite Customer Advisory

Oracle has announced that starting April 16, 2019 Oracle JDK License has changed for new releases.  Public updates for Oracle Java SE 8 released after January 2019 will NOT be available for business, commercial, or production use without a commercial license.

The new Oracle Technology Network License Agreement for Oracle Java SE is substantially different from prior Oracle JDK licenses. The new license permits certain uses, such as personal use and development use, at no cost. Please review the terms carefully before downloading and using it. A link to FAQ is available here from Oracle to understand the license terms further.

Alternative: Amazon Corretto

Customers who do not wish to subscribe for JRE updates can use Amazon Corretto as a drop-in replacement. Amazon Corretto is released under the open source license category and updates can be downloaded from Amazon Web services:

https://aws.amazon.com/corretto/

https://aws.amazon.com/corretto/faqs/

Ways to Update JRE and Corretto:

Accelerite has ensured these latest critical updates are available for customers using the Supported Radia versions through a hotfix. Since the changes to Licensing terms, Accelerite will cease to share JRE updates for Radia through hotfix and JRE updates will not be bundled with Cumulative patches of major release of Radia versions.

Accelerite will however continue to support both Oracle JRE and Corretto and will share scripts that will help with installation and upgrades as and when new releases are available.

As a Radia End-point Management customer to understand how it may impact the use of JRE with the Radia Management Console web application, we recommend you read the FAQ below. If you have any more questions on how Radia Endpoint Management can help you with this, please write to us at support@accelerite.com.
