Radia Extended OS support, Microsoft released WinXP/Win8/Win2k3 “WannaCrypt” security patch

As many of you are already aware, a major cyber-attack was launched recently that targeted a vulnerability in the SMB server. MS17-010 patched this hole for supported OS’s in March but left unsupported OS’s at risk so Microsoft released patches for the unsupported OS’s. Anyone who is managing WinXP, Win8, or Win2K3 and would like to patch this OS's via Patch Manager can send me an email james.longo@evergreensys.com.

See links below for more details about the security patch.

We have the custom XML updated on the Content Distribution Network for WinXP/Win8/Win2k3 that are currently unsupported by Microsoft, please run your acquisition for the required KB and this can be acquired and deployed.

There is also a Radia Customer Advisory released for all customers using Radia to manage the Microsoft Patches. For any questions or concerns on how Radia can help tackle this for you, please go through the advisory shared in the link below.

I read your customer advisory. In a case like this why would Accelerite not automatically publish a custom xml file for this bulletin for XP, Server 2003, now that a patch exists.

Although these fall under unsupported OS versions we have considered the situation as exceptional and are working on a custom XML for Windows XP and other unsupported OS versions.
We should be able to acquire these KB's through a custom XML which will allow the Radia Patch Manager to acquire and deploy these KB's, for eg: KB4012598 for Windows XP.

We will be able to share this in a couple of days for all to acquire and would like to assure you that Accelerite will extend all the support needed to ensure the Radia Managed devices are secure from such attacks.

Can this update for XP/2003 be acquired by acquisition via "MS-KB4012598", or  "MS17-010"?

WinXP/Win8/Win2k3 are currently unsupported by Microsoft, hence MS17-010 will not acquire Security updates for XP/2003.

Acquisition of MS-KB4012598, with a custom XML will acquire the applicable updates for XP and 2003. Contact Accelerite Support for MS-KB4012598 custom XML.

Unless Accelerite took the bulletin off the custom feed you should be able to acquire it automatically with MS-KB4012598. I used MS17-010-XP and MS17-010-2K3 for my custom bulletins. I also acquired the Accelerite content when they made their custom bulletin available via Radia acquisition of MS-KB4012598.
