CloudStack 4.0 and XenServer 6.1

what is the time line for supporting XenServer 6.1 in CloudStack 4.0?

I just upgraded the hosts to 6.1 and got this error:
"Only support XCP 1.0.0, 1.1.0, 1.5 beta; XenServer 5.6, XenServer 5.6 FP1, XenServer 5.6 SP2, Xenserver 6.0, 6.0.2, 6.0.9 but this one is XenServer 6.1.0"

Hi,

XS6.1 support is targeted for CS 4.1, which has a planned release for 22 March 2013.

Tariq,

From the page linked below it looks like Cloudstack 4.1 is also supposed to support Hyper-V. Does that sound right? I'll be very happy if Cloudstack 4.1 is released in March!

Hi,

I am afraid but this isn't the correct forum for getting information on Cloudstack releases and timelines. For such information you should query Apache Cloudstack forums.

As for CloudPlatform, XenServer 6.1 is supported with 3.0.5 releases onwards. Note, supported here means that you could add and use a XenServer 6.1 host to a CloudPlatform deployment but doesn't necessarily mean that it would support all the new features introduced by XenServer 6.1.

Hope this answers your query.

Regards,
Somesh

Unfortunately, Xenserver 6.1 is not supported by Cloudplatform 3.0.5 or any release I know of. Please see the following thread and kb:

http://forums.citrix.com/thread.jspa?threadID=314249&tstart=45
http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX134803

Has Citrix since patched Cloudplatform 3.0.5 to allow you to add Xenserver 6.1 hosts?

And I know that Cloudstack is the opensource component to Cloudplatform and it is mantained by Apache, not Citrix, but i just wanted to see if my fellow community forum member Tariq had some inside knowledge on the subject. That's what a community-driven forum is for right!

That must be a typo error (or I must really be thinking wrong), thanks for pointing that out, CloudPlatform 3.0.5 indeed doesn't support Xenserver 6.1.

However, CloudPlatform 3.0.6 does. Please refer to the CloudPlatform 3.0.6 release notes. Why CloudPlatform 3.0.6 is not in listed in the Compatibility Matrix is due to a doc defect.

My comment just tried to point you to a better and more accurate source of information. Any information on Apache Cloudstack on this forum cannot be deemed accurate/authentic since it has not passed community validation.

Also, not sure what you meant by inside knowledge, Apache community is transparent and nothing happens outside of the mailing list. So no concept of inside knowledge in regards to what's happening on Apache Cloudstack.
