Linked Clones and vCenter

Hi,

When deleting VMs are there any limitations with regards doing this from vCenter? For example with VMware vCloud or VMware View environments, deleting VMs managed by these should not be done through vCenter. Is this the same for Cloudstack/Openstack? Are there any documents that I can reference?

Thanks,
Darren

Anything that can be done via CloudPlatform should be done via CloudPlatform. I don't have any documentation handy, but remember that CloupPlatform is an orchestration platform. It needs to be aware of activity within the cloud to do its job properly. There will be exceptions, as you move forward, but my first sentence is a good rule-of-thumb.

I would completely agree with Mike, what can be done via CloudPlatform should be done via CloudPlatform.

However, from the capability perspective, it is still possible to shutdown the VM from vCenter and CloudPlatform is capable of updating the status in its DB. That is how we support vMotion.
