Apache Cloud platform vs Citrix Cloudstack

Hello,

this had properbly been asked before - I can not find it though.

Can i just change from Citrix to Apache, what are the differance, do citrix still develop to
cloudstack, and are there a reson to choose Citrix's version.

We are using citrix cloudstack at tho moment, but are thinking of changing the platform..

Thanks in advance

Kind regards
Gert

Apache Cloud platform vs Citrix Cloudstack

The biggest difference between CCP (Citrix CloudPlatform) and ACS (Apache CloudStack) is going to be direct support from Citrix. That being said, migrating from one to the other may work, but likely won't be trivial. I think it was more feasible in the 3.0.x line, but will likely get more difficult as time goes on and the two products diverge in subtle ways.

The best way to approach it would be with a good backup of your current DB, then do a fresh install of ACS using a new DB. Then audit the DBs looking for any changes. This will allow you to tweak your backup before you "restore" it to the new DB.

Obviously, Citrix would prefer that you stick with their version, but depending on the scale of your environment, it may be feasible to switch. However, proceed at your own risk.

Thank you for the reply.

The reson why i am asking is because, it seems like apache is further ahead. i.e abe to change network on
running computers..

But if i read it right this will be availabe in 3.0.7 patch b

Kind regards

Gert

The upcoming release of CloudPlatform code named Campo will be same as ACS's latest version at the time.

Upgrade paths from existing versions of CloudPlatform to ACS should be same/similar to that of CloudPlatform Campo.
