Migration from OnApp to CloudStack

Hi,

We are using OnApp as private cloud and want to move our cloud infra on CloudStack but we are unable to find any migration guide for CloudStack, Is there anyone who has done migration from OnApp sucessfully. or anyone can give some idea about it or any documentation.

Thanks

Saif

Don't know if its possible to do a straight migration... Unless things have changed recently, CloudPlatform is expecting a "green field" regarding the hypervisors, so they can't be moved between the two orchestration layers. Depending on the maturity of your internal configuration management tools, it may be easier to launch new instances of the systems that currently run in OnApp, then transfer the workload.

I think the "supported" way would be to export a "shutdown" VM from OnApp (assuming KVM) and import as a template, then launch a new instance in CloudPlatform. You may want to reach out to Citrix to see if there is a cleaner method.

Migrate out of Onapp into CloudStack. Essentially you have to rsync the entire FileSystem into another VM in whatever Hypervisor you select within CloudStack. VM's out of the magical "Onapp" ecosystem cannot leave the premises without a lot of manual work. There's no easy way out of this. It is a closed system by design, and there is no way to get out once you're in. Anyway, you then boot that VM with LiveCD to modify it's network configs and you're done.
