CloudStack VM view console throwing up debug info

CloudStack VM view console throwing up debug info

I'm having some strange behaviour when I try to view the console from the management server UI. When I click on the view console icon I get a blue bar with Ctrl+Alt+Del, Ctrl+Esc, Keyboard and a black circle at the far right. I don't see the Linux prompt and when I click on the black circle I get a lot of debug info as shown in the attachment. This happens with all the vms (all Linux).

I don't see anything in the cloud-managment log to suggest anything.

Has anyone seen anything similar and how did they resolve the issue?

Thanks.

You have debug enabled in /etc/cloud/management/log4j-cloud.xml on your console proxy VM.
But this debug window should disappear when you move window off the top edge.
Until you have not modified system template, the easiest way to get rid of this is to destroy and let CS to re-create console proxy VM.

Radek.

Thanks one million times Radlow. This helped. I destroyed the console proxy VM as advised and it worked.

Osay, just out of my curiosity. Have you ever enable tracing in Console Proxy VM? I am just wondering how you could run into this problem?

Thanks,
Radek.

Hi Radoslow,

I may have but I don't remember specifically. I had an issue with secondary storage after applying some hotfixes to one of the hosts in the cluster. I may have done something in my effort to fix the issue but I'm not quite sure. From your posts it appears this does not happen by itself so I'll think that I while fixing the storage issue I might have copied over a config file that contained this activated debug.

Thanks.

What is your hypervisor?
Are you sure Console Proxy VM is working?
Are you sure VM you trying access it up and working?

Radek.

Hi Radoslaw,
I'm running XenServer 6.02 as hypervisor. The console proxy VM is working. After fixing the issue by destroying the console proxy vm and the system creating a new one things worked. But I again have the same issue though I did nothing at all on the server. I have had to destroy the console proxy vm again for it to create a new one. I'm not sure what is activating the debug in the system or how I can stop this from happening again by itself.

Thanks.

And oh yes when I fix the error by recreating the console proxy vm, connecting to the console often takes a long time and times out with error such as below:

The server at 192-168-40-110.realhostip.com is taking too long to respond.

I'm not sure if there is something that needs to be adjusted to make this work.
