Email notification when a new account is created

Is it possible to get email notification when a new account is created (self registration or manual)? If yes, where is the setting that controls which email will get that notification.

Hi Jacobbe,

Could you clairfy the following:

Which user - root / service provider or Master user account you want to send the email notification ??

Once you create a Service provider / Master user / Power user / Normal user / Billing admin user then you need to specify the email ID while adding user account.
Note :

For Retail / Trial account -> Email will be sent directly to the specified email ID.

For Corporate account -> Email will be sent once root /Ops Admin user changes the account state from New account to Active.

Hi Jacob,

As i see it, there are two questions :

1.) Is it possible to get email notification when a new account is created (self registration or manual)?
Yes, its possible and in fact, is the default configuration. As soon as one creates an account ( by specifying a valid email ID ) , the email notification would be sent to this email id ( also known as primary email ID ).

2.) where is the setting that controls which email will get that notification ?
The email notification is always sent to the Primary email ID. Once the user is active, User can modify the primary email address in "My Profile" section in order to change the email id on which the notification is supposed to be sent.

Sorry if my question was not clear.

I am asking if a service provider can get a notification when ANY account is created in CPBM. For example a retail user creates a new account via the sign-up page, can CPBM send a notification to a pre-defined email informing that anew account is created. Is this possible? if yes, where do you deine the email address that will receive these notifications

Hi Jacob,

Please find below the workflow to receive notification to a predefined email ID when a new account is created :

1.) Login into Cloud Portal as Root.
2.) Navigate to Administration tab and "Account Types" sub tab underneath it.
3.) Select any Account Type ( e.g Retail / Corporate / Trial etc ).
4.) Under the "On Boarding Controls" sub tab, one would find attribute called "Manual Activation".
5.) By Default, this attribute is set to "False" for Retail and Trial, whereas, its "True" for Corporate type account.
6.) Set the value of this attribute to "True".
7.) Now, Navigate to Administration tab and Click on Configuration sub-tab.
8.) Select "Account Provisioning" and Enter the Email ID in the field "vmops.approvalRequest.email" to which the New Account Activation Request has to be sent.
9.) Now, Create a account of the same Account Type, a email notification would be sent to the email ID as mentioned in "vmops.approvalRequest.email" for activating this account.
10.) Please note, that enabling "Manual Activation" would require Ops Admin / Root to Login and Manually activate this account, which would be in "New" state otherwise.
11.) As soon as, this account is activated manually by Root/Ops Admin Service provider user, it would receive a email for verifying its email ID and setting its own password.

This makes the retail account manually activated as well. The customer may not want this. Jacob, the feature was designed to only notify the SP when manual activation was required. If simple notification is needed, it can be custom built, by registering a handler that will receive all account creation events and sending out emails appropriately.

If that's what's needed, please ping back and we can provide more details.
