CloudPlaform MySQL active-active setup support?

Hello,

Is mysql active-active setup supported in CloudPlaform 4.5.0 and newer versions?

In clouddstack this is possible:

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=34838207

and I remember that this feature was listed as one new functionality when 4.3 was realeased:

http://www.shapeblue.com/cloudstack-4-3-a-first-review/

Could someone confirm the situation?

ccp4.5.1.0 upload template from local

HI,Every:

Today I install the ccp4.5.1.0 with xenserver6.5 sp1?I upload the template from local, but that failed?

I follow the following steps?

1.set the Global Configuration parameters, and restart the ccp service:
secstorage.encrypt.copy = true

secstorage.ssl.cert.domain = *.test.com

consoleproxy.url.domain = *.test.com

2.create the ca

#(umask 077; openssl genrsa -out private/cakey.pem 2048)

#openssl req -new -x509 -key -in private/cakey.pem -out cacert.pem -days 365

3.create the  ccp server key and crt

#Generate a new 2048-bit private key

openssl genrsa -des3 -out test.key 2048

#Generate a new certificate CSR

openssl req -new -key test.key -out test.csr

#Convert your private key format into PKCS#8 encrypted format

openssl pkcs8 -topk8 -in  test.key -out test.pkcs8.encrypted.key

#onvert your PKCS#8 encrypted private key into the PKCS#8 format that is compliant with

CloudPlatform

openssl pkcs8 -in test.pkcs8.encrypted.key -out test.pkcs8.key

#create the crt for the ccp

openssl ca -in test.csr -out test.crt -days 3650

4.After the connsole proxy is UP, navigate to Infrastructure > SSL Certificate?Copy ROOT CA cacert.pem,  Server Certificate test.crt  , and Private Key  test.pkcs8.key and provide  domain name. example, test.com.After the successful upload of certificates, make sure System VM’s are up and running?

5.place Root CA and Intermediate CA to Trusted Root Certification Authority on the computer that you want to use for browsing. On Windows, import the certificates using Microsoft Management Console.

6.Upload the template from local ,but it can't work ?

Registering new ISO problem: Image Store null

Registering new ISO problem: Image Store null

Hi,

I'm fairly new to CloudStack, I followed the tutorial to create a single machine deployment on CentOS.

http://docs.cloudstack.apache.org/projects/cloudstack-installation/en/4.5/qig.html

When I try to register an ISO to use, entering a valid download link etc I get the following error:

"cloudstack unable to find image store to download template null"

I set use local storage to true in global settings but still receive the error, does anybody know the cause?

Many thanks

How to Delete Secondary Storage in C.S 4.5

How to Delete Secondary Storage in C.S 4.5

Hi

I'm trying to delete, and then re-add secondary storage for a zone,

which was never successfully detected in the fist place, but when I
try to delete it in the UI I get:

"Cannot delete image store with active templates backup!"

I don't see any templates in the secondary storage folder itself - it
looks like no communication to the folder happened from the C.S
controller.

How would I clear what ever junk meta-data may be preventing the
storage from being deleted? (safely, manually or otherwise)

Thanks in advance,
Traiano

Cloud Stack - Automated Xenserver 6.5 host deployment.

Hi,

I am relatively new to Cloud stack/Platform so I might be missing something but after searching for a few days I am having difficulty finding an answer to my question:

How are people automating the deployment of the underlying hypervisor (specifically Xenserver6.x), I understand that Cloudstack has some bare metal support baked in (although disabled by default/ not very well documented ?) but I have been unable to find any documentation on rolling out Xenserver through it.

Am I looking in the wrong place or missing something, should I be focusing on an additional product/service for the host deployment maybe something like foreman & puppet?

Any pointers or clues as to the location of decent/Correct documentation on automated host deployment would be great.

Cheers,

James

Netscaler Loadbalancing / Unable to create load balance rule

Netscaler Loadbalancing / Unable to create load balance rule

Hi 2 all!

After having solved my Problem with the Netscaler integration, I am heading the nets issue:

I created two VMs with a Network Offering LoadBalancing by a Netscaler.

Provided IP adresses are:

vRouter 192.45.80.1

hostB2: 192.45.80.160

hostB3: 192.45.80.142

Netscaler: 192.45.80.178

Every machine reaches every node on basis of IP. Arp, ping, everything pretty fine so far...

BUT:

When deploying a LB-rule I can give it a name, a public and a provate port, but when choosing a host and wanting to add it, i receive an error:

" Unable to create load balance rule; can't find/allocate source IP"

Also the CCP Logfile shows me the same error:

2015-05-18 09:09:59,329 DEBUG [c.c.a.ApiServlet] (catalina-exec-8:ctx-b595746e) ===START===  10.140.128.200 -- GET  command=createLoadBalancerRule&response=json&sessionkey=RkBNJXoIJloaqqKaemskzskOwng%3D&algorithm=roundrobin&name=hostB&privateport=80&publicport=80&openfirewall=false&domainid=73e7f226-11a8-11e4-98ba-cad23db3da4d&account=admin&networkid=9600f8b5-4237-4fbd-aa2a-155b87b783e5&_=1431940202239

When looking into the CCPs mysql database, the host has an IP:

mysql> select * from vm_instance \G
*************************** 1131. row ***************************
                      id: 1152
                    name: hostB3
                    uuid: 19c51e1b-237f-4a9f-86f2-4641675ede6f
           instance_name: i-2-1152-VM
                   state: Running
          vm_template_id: 287
             guest_os_id: 164
     private_mac_address: 02:00:39:91:00:04
      private_ip_address: 192.45.80.142

What is going wrong here? Anyone an idea?

Removing Netscaler

Removing Netscaler

Hi!

Two days ago I added a VPX Netscaler to my 4.3.0.2 Cloudplatform. Unfortunately I made a mistake in the Interfacenumbering, but this became obvious later.

I creates a Network Offering, created an instance, but due to my mistake above, the creation failed (The VLAN couldn't be created on the designated interface).

I destroyed and expunged the machines, removed the network offerings, and wanted to remove the netscaler.

This faild with the exeption "Delete can not be done as there are networks using this load balancer device

".

How could I determine the related network, and how could I get rid off this netscaler, as the mgmt IP of the reentered netscaler hould be the same as before?

Thanks from Vienna,

roland

XA/XD Within CCP

Does anyone have a "best practice" for using XenApp and XenDesktop 7.6 within CloudPlatform 4.5?   In particular, I have created a VCP with AD, License Server, StoreFront, Controller, AppServers, and Desktop Servers.  All seems to work "internally" to the VPC very well.   But, creating a NAT to the StoreFront server does not work, as I would need a SSL Gateway.   I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to import a NetScaler VPX into CCP.   I have been attempting to set one up outside of CCP with a 2nd, NIC that is on the same vLAN as the VPC, but I am having very little sucess getting them to see each other.

Dear Ladies and Gents!

I have installed:

serveral Xenserver 6.2, which are maintained by a

CCP 4.3.0.2 with a customer frontend

CPBM 2.3.1 Patch C, and a not yet ready integrated

CPSM 11.0

What I want to do ist, to update the XenServer to 6.5

My questions:

Is the CPBM 2.3.1 Patch C capable to operate with CCP 4.5?

Is the CPSM 11.0 (I want to upgrade to 11.5) capable to interacet with CCP 4.5?

Which order do I have to follow not to get into troubles with compatibility issues?

Instances unable to ping each other on Basic Shared Network

Hi All,

I am testing CloudPlatform and am having some problems with the Basic Networking. The networking seems to be working and the deployed Instances can ping the gateway etc and i can ping all Instances from outside the CloudPlatform environment. But the Instances can't ping each another... They are on the same Basic Shared network called defaultGuestNetwork and type is "Shared".

I'm not sure if this is by design or have i done something wrong ? Should the Instances be able to ping one another in this basic configuration ? This is a basic setup for our Developers to do some testing with and i would like all deployed Instances to be able to talk to each other.

Appreciate any feedback.

Hello,

I am looking at the documentation

http://cloudstack-administration.readthedocs.org/en/latest/accounts.html#using-a-saml-2-0-identity-provider-for-user-authentication

but dont understand what I need to do.  I cant find any of the settings listed in the global settings options.  Do I need to install/enable the SAML2.0 plugin elsewhere before the settings become available.

Anyone who can advise in this area, your assistance would be greatly appriciated.

Using the console proxy

Using the console proxy

I've searched through all the docs I can find and can't seem to understand how the console proxy VM is used from an external address.  For starters, I only want to use it in http mode to make things simple.

I saw in the admin guide that the proper url would be http://<proxy vm public ip>/<token>

But there's no explanation of what the "token" is or where it comes from.  And what do you see when you go to that url?  How do you differentiate between the different VMs that are running?

Unable to attach my ISO files to VM or create VM from uploaded template
Avatar

Unable to attach my ISO files to VM or create VM from uploaded template

I uploaded 3 different ISO images to our CCP environment.  One was a Clonezilla live CD, one was the Ubuntu 14.04 server ISO, and one was another system rescue CD.

The uploading process went fine with no errors and the new ISO's appeared in the list of available ISO images, however I was unable to attach any of those ISO's to a test Centos VM that I had created.  Whenever I would try, it would just attempt for about 5 minutes, then give me a generic error "could not attach iso image".  I also tried creating a new VM using the Clonezilla ISO as the template and that failed as well.

On our old XenServer/XenCenter setup, I had no problem using Clonezilla on the VMs.

I tried deleting and re-uploading the Clonezilla ISO several times using different OS Types.  The first time I told it to use Debian 7, as the Clonezilla ISO is the Debian based one.  The second time, I tried to use Centos 5.2 to match the VM (based on something I saw in the Cloud Stack docs regarding ISO's), and the third time, I just tried Other Linux 64 bit.  None of those worked.

What am I missing?  Shouldn't I be able to attach just about any ISO to a VM?

Bruce

Edit:

The problem seems to be related to a new problem I see today which is that I cannot create any VM from one of my uploaded templates either.  The error in the XenServer and management server logs indicates that it's unable to mount secondary storage (192.168.4.3/secondary), which is the correct address.  The secondary storage VM also mounts that NFS share and it has no trouble with it.  Only the XenServer seems to be having trouble with it.

realhostip.com still being detected after uploading custom certificate

I have uploaded my own SSL wildcard certificate using the instructions at:

http://docs.cloudstack.apache.org/projects/cloudstack-administration/en/4.4/systemvm.html#console-proxy

I have updated UI and changed the consoleproxy.url.domain in Global Settings.

However, browsers are still giving certificate errors showing

"The certificate is only valid for the following names: *.realhostip.com, realhostip.com"

When I generated my csr and purchased a wildcart cert I used my own domain name but browsers are still picking up realhostip info.

I've also tried destorying the console proxy VM and including both intermediate certs when updating SSL through the UI.

Thanks.

Migrate VMs from XenServer 6.2.0 to CCP 4.3.0.2
Avatar

Migrate VMs from XenServer 6.2.0 to CCP 4.3.0.2

We have a current XenServer/XenCenter setup where we have 4 virtual machines.  We now have a CloudPlatform environment setup on different hardware, but also using XenServer 6.2.0 as the hypervisor.  I need to somehow get these VMs over to the CCP environment and I'm finding it hard to figure out the best way to do this.  The docs seem to block me in whatever effort I think I need to do.

FIrst of all, I need to do any exporting, etc. from the XenServer CLI.  There's no way I can download hundreds of GB of files and reupload them.  From the CLI, I should be able to transfer them directly from the old environment to a location in the new environment where I can put them where they need to be.

So, according to the admin guide for CCP, chapter 13 talks about uploading templates.  In the UI RegisterTemplates dialog, the only format option available for a XenServer hypervisor is a VHD format file.  So, how can I get a VHD file out of my existing VM hard disks?

If I do a xe vm-export, it will only create a ".xva" file.  If I do a xe vdi-export, it appears what it will export is considered a "raw vdi" file.  But I'm not sure what the means or what format it is in.  In our current environment, all the VDI's appear to be individual LVM volumes.

It's hard for me to believe that with both XenServer and CCP being Citrix products, that it can be so difficult to transfer VMs from one environment to the other.

I hope someone can help me figure out what to do.

Console Proxy VM refusing connection after enabling SSL

Console Proxy VM refusing connection after enabling SSL

I have a CloudStack 4.4.2 environment set up and the last thing I need to do is secure it with SSL.

I have already bought and installed an SSL certification for the CloudStack web UI but I am having issues configuring SSL properly for the console proxy VM.

I have referenced the following two guides for enabling SSL for console proxy VM.

http://docs.cloudstack.apache.org/projects/cloudstack-administration/en/4.4/systemvm.html#console-proxy

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/CLOUDSTACK/Realhost+IP+changes

After updating SSL in the CloudStack UI and changing the consoleproxy.url.domain in Global Settings, I can see that the URL for the console proxy domain now comes up as:

https://<ip>-<ip>-<ip>-<ip>.mydomain.com

According to the guides, that is the correct format for the https url of the console proxy vm.

However, when trying to access the console of a VM it shows the message "Server refused connection."

Any help on what could be wrong is much appreciated.

Cores per socket

Hi,

There was a discussion sometime back on the ACS mailing list for settting the cores-per-socket feature and a fix was put in place. I cannot find this feature in 4.3 and 4.5 release notes do not mention anything about it.

Is there any update on the status of this feature and if there is a way to modify the VMs xapi db state as a workaround till this is supported in CCP?
