Guest VMs cannot access Internet

Guest VMs cannot access Internet

Hi all,

I have a new CloudStack 4.8 install running with KVM on CentOS7.  It is setup with advanced networking using vlan isolation.

The SSVM works great and i deployed a new guest VM using the Centos5.5 default image,

The Centos5.5 guest VM can ping the virtual router.  The virtual router can ping the Internet and the guest VM.  However, the guest VM cannot ping the Internet.  The guest VM can do name resolution when using the virtual router as its dns server.

We are doing Source NAT, the virtual router has a Internet IP address.  I can do additional troubleshooting, just let me know what you need.

Thank for any help you can provide!

XenServer Lic w/ CloudPlatform

This week we renewed our CloudPlatform (Annual) subscription and support.   Our XenServer Enterprise - per socket licenses (which we received when we purchased last year) had also expired.  I received the new license for CloudPlatform yesterday.  But, when I went to allocate my licenses, I did not receive any new licenses for XenServer.   So, I promptly called Citrix Support.   I was told that CloudPlatform no longer includes licensing for XenServer.

Can someone tell me if this is true?

Hyper-V Secondary

Greetings,

If you are adding Hyper-V to CloudPlatform, the requirement is SMB or local disk. If that is the case, its not NFS so mounting it to Management Server wouldn't be capable. So how would you add the system vm template if your secondary storage is an SMB hosted from a windows based file server?

CloudPlatform is parsing XML data in the OVF file contained within an OVA container use for the deployment of virtual machines.

CloudPlatform is parsing XML data in the OVF file contained within an OVA container use for the deployment of virtual machines.

The issue we are seeing relates to the way in which we believe your CloudPlatform is parsing XML data in the OVF file contained within an OVA container use for the deployment of virtual machines.

You may see and instant of the OVA that fails to import into CloudPlatform Business Manager by navigating to our download pages at https://www.pexip.com/download and looking at the OVA in the âManually deploy a new Conferencing Nodeâ section. For your reference, the OVA we produce that is listed in the âDeploy a new Management Nodeâ, uses the more ânormalâ XML description, and CloudPlatform parses this with no issue.

Our use of XML namespaces (a standard part of XML: http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/REC-xml-names11-20060816/) is completely standard and also necessary in order to ensure the XML is generated in a controlled way. The namespaces are defined using the âxmlnsâ tag at the start of the file. You will see that we define âovfâ and âns0â to have exactly the same URI (please look at the XML from both the working Management node and non-working Conferencing node linked to previously). This means they have exactly the same semantics, and can be used interchangeably. However, due to some unknown reason, the Citrix systems are unable to parse this information correctly. If the parsing of the XML looks at the namespace prefix, rather than the namespace URI, then Citrix is not parsing the XML correctly.

We are not able to change the way we generate the OVF template, but we have had reports that manually editing the XML result in a OVA that can be imported, and once the VM has been deployed, things work as you would expect. We have recommended to our customers that they approach Citrix directly and requesting that you re-look at the parsing of the files, especially considering that the native XEN platform (including the Citrix XEN v6 On Prem Solution), VMware and all other OVF-parsing tools we have met successfully parse our XML.

We are seeing more and more customers look at cloud offerings to support their videoconferencing solutions using our platform. I therefore trust you will be able to create an internal technical issue for the Cloud Platform team, and that you may be able to resolve this matter to the mutual benefit of both Citrix and Pexip.

No facility available for disk upload. Unable to create any functioning volume service VMs.

Hello,

I have a setup cloudplatform 4.5 and integrated it into xendesktop 7.6 using citrix studio.

The Citrix Cloudplatform management server also stores the primary and secondary storage. When it comes to the networking i have kept it simple by using "Basic zone".

Also in Cloudplatform i have created a volume worker vm ( centos 6.4 ) with the

*ctxvd-x-x-1.i386.rpm package installed

*Citrix Xentools installed

*An exeption for 443 port in iptables / FW

*/etc/ctxvwd/select-platform CCP

*service ctxvwd start

The volume worker template also have the tag Citrix.Xendesktop.Template.Role=VolumeServiceWorkerRole in CCP.

But when i attempt to create a desktop to cloudplatform using citrix studio ( small instance - machine creation services and my windows 10 template ) i get the error:

Trying to add cloudplatform to citrix studio - ErrorCode:401 ErrorText: unable to verify user credentials and/or request signature Command

Hello,

I am setting up a proof of concept with cloudplatform 4.5 and xendesktop 7.6. I dont have much experience with cloudplatform, so kinda new at this.. :)

When i add cloudplatform in citrix studio by supplying the connection address: http://192.168.1.20:8080/client/api and the api\secret key i have generated for the default admin account citrix studio are giving me the error message:  An error occured with your API and Secret Key combination. Ensure you enter them correctly

When looking at "View error details" in citrix studio the actual error message is this:

Exception : Citrix.ManagedMachineAPI.InvalidCredentialsException: unable to verify user credentials and/or request signature ---> Citrix.CloudStack.SDK.CloudStackException: ErrorCode:401 ErrorText: unable to verify user credentials and/or request signature Command: http://192.168.1.20:8080/client/api?apikey=dmPwkAQ6ubF6UEpNIwzwnkP91zdUs_Q_NFddrrRWNhep8jlTgb7NM0vSppURpZxKghwxpMUd-adiHvNzvEOy4Q&command=listZones&expires=2015-11-14T09:10:07+0100&signatureVersion=3&signature=IpkBWKh6tL2JG5LyI0+F3gW2bys= Context: ProtocolError on API call ---> System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.

Infrastructure details:

CP01.cloud.local - Running Centos 6.7 and cloudplatform 4.5.1.0. Also acting as NFS server with primary and secondary storage
DDC01.cloud.local - Delivery Controller running xendesktop 7.6

CCP-XS01 - Xenserver 6.5 with the latest patches applied

1. when adding the CPSM integration do my existing tenants come over with the offering they have?

2. is there decent documentaion on how to add the integration to CPSM? I can't find anything useful. I am adding but when i add the service i get "Cloud service is down"

system vm agent state blank. Cant console to system vm

I have had unending issue reinstalling Cloudplatform 4.5. After installation the console proxy and ssvm agent state is usually blank. I have followed https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/CLOUDSTACK/SSVM,+templates,+Secondary+storage+troubleshooting but nothing still works. When I run /usr/local/cloud/systemvm/ssvm-check.sh inside ssvm or console proxy it passes all the test. the problem though is that when you click on console it doesnt go through. It times out or gives you connection refused. Is there anything I am missing? Meanwhile I am using virtual xenserver and my template seeding was offline.

Unable to download iso template

Hello,

I got cloudstack 4.3 up and running with xenserver 6.2. When I try to add a iso file I get the error : "Timeout waiting for response from storage host".

The secondary nfs share is stored on the cloudstack server. The primary share is on my xenserver. I'm running a simple webserver where the ISO\s are stored. The cloudstack server made a get-request  on the web server, but thats about it.

I checked the management-server.log:

Troubleshooting steps so far:

- I have configured secstorage.allowed.internal.sites with the IP-adress from the webserver

-Added a second drive (20GB) for the secondary storage. I thought my secondary nfs share didnt had enought space for the iso's.

-Logged on the system-VM and could ping to WAN- and LAN-devices.

Any kind of help would be appreciated

Kind regards,

Basic Networking in Advanced Zone

Basic Networking in Advanced Zone

Hi

I have just deployed CloudStack on a set of brand new servers. I have deployed an "Advanced" zone and that all seems to be working quite well. I am looking to offer a mixture of the following:

VPC instances for customers who require elastic compute and per hour billing etc...

and

VPS servers for customers who require just a handful of VMs

The issue I have is that I cannot figure out how to create VMs for the VPS services which simply have a public IP address. Essentially, I am trying to use basic networking in an advanced zone for some of my services.

I have created a basic network service offering (DHCP, User Data). I then created a shared network from this but am unable to connect VMs to this network during the process of creating a VM.

I am considering the idea of separating my VPS and Elastic Cloud services into separate zones (one basic, one advanced) if I can't achieve this. Ideally, I would prefer not to do this as it would mean running separate hypervisors.

Can anybody shed any light on this?

Regards

I have a scenario where we need more than 4 (default) Site-To-Site VPNs connecting back to one of our VPC Networks.   I see where to change the limit in Gobal Settings (site2site.vpn.vpngateway.connection.limit).    But what are the ramifications, if any, of increasing the limit?   And, if it's ok to do so, what should I stop at?   Is it a matter of changing the resources that the virtual router is using?

create zone / vmware / countless systems vms

Hi Guys

I'm a beginner , i created a new zone with all relevant information necessary , it was successfully created , all primary and secondary storage are fine , cloudstack keeps creating countless systems VM's and moving them to primary storage , i counted up to 75 so for , i'd like to know if this is a normal behavior. i already have cleanup up the database and restarted the zone creation twice but the behavior continues.

Unable to add xenserver host to cloudstack

Hello,

I installed cloudstack management 4.5.2 on centos 6.5 and I installed Xenserver 6.5 Somehow I'm unable to add de xenserver as host. The Cloudstack server is also running as NFS for sharing the primary and secondary shares. The cloudstack server  can ping the xenserver (hostname and IP-adress).

I have to say, I'm new to cloudstack and xenserver and the guides I used are:

The log file at(/var/log/cloudstack/management/management-server.log showed the followwing error:

Any kind of help would be appreciated

Kind regards,

Unable to configure firewall for public IP address
Hi,

I created a public IP address in my vpc.

I went to the configuration screen for the public IP address which shows a diagram:
internet=>firewall=>Load Balancing
                             =>Port Forwarding

For this public IP address, I'll be using Load Balancing.

The problem is that I cannot configure the firewall.

The diagram shows a "slash" through the firewall so I cannot configure the firewall.

Why is that?

How can I fix it?

Thanks.

Site-2-Site VPN Configuration

Can anyone tell me if I should be able to do the following?

CCP 4.5

Site-2-Site VPN between two VPCs

(VPC-ABC to VPC-XYZ)

(10.10.0.0/24 to 10.11.11.0/24)

While also having a Site-2-Site VPN to Client Location

(VPC-ABC to Client Location)

(10.10.0.0/24 to 192.168.1.0/24)

I would think that the answer is yes...   I'm just wondering if CCP allows for multipl S2S VPNs to a single VPC.

Snapshots - Instance vs. Disk

So I'm looking for a little clarification here.   I can take a snapshot of an instance (as long as the disks associated with it do not have their own snapshots.) But, I can't schedual an Instance Snapshot.    I can schedual a disk snapshot, but I don't see where I can revert an instance back to that snapshot.

What am I missing here?   What would be the proper way to user a disk snapshot to revert back to that state?
