I have an installation of CloudPlatform 3.0.5 patch 1 and on the infrastructure page I do not see any counters of how many zones, pods, clusters etc I have, I have to click each section and count them to find out. Is there a problem with this page?

I've just done a fresh install of Xenserver 6.0.2, and I've created a VM for the CloudPlatform management server using CentOS 6.3 64-bit. Everything installed fine, as I've previously worked out the bumps installing older versions of CloudPlatform. Until... I tried to setup a zone. The wizard created all the networking and storage, but when it got to the "Adding a Host" step, the management server suddenly shutdown!

After starting the management server back up a couple times, I found these lines in /var/log/cloud/management/management-server.log:

I've never had this problem with Cloudstack before; anyone else seeing this problem? How can I avoid it?

I'm logged on to Cloudstack as the admin user and I can't display any instances in the UI at the root domain. I can view instances running under individuals projects, just not at the root domain. The attached screenshot shows the UI after clicking the instances tab on the left navigation bar. We also receive the following error message in management-server.log:

We have configured the expunge.delay and expunge.interval settings to 300 but VM instances are not being removed from the vm_instance table in the Cloud DB. The state shows "expunging" and the removed column is populated with the date and time when the VM was deleted by the user. Is the vm_instance suppose to keep these rows forever? I was expecting these rows to be deleted at some point.

I have following setup:

CloudStack 3 latest till date of writing on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64-Bit

Total 2 Nodes

1 is the management node and compute node as well (installed both management, database and agent(for compute)
1 is compute node only

1 Zone, 1 Pod, 1 Cluster and 2 Hosts in cluster.

Using KVM on both machines

IP address scheme used: 192.168.1.0/24

All Hosts added and I can access the management web portal as well and it is showing 22GHz CPU and 14GB Ram in Infrastructure as well with both hosts up and running.

I can ping both of them and mount the nfs on both without any issues.

When I try to create an instance with Medium , Small or any other that has 2 Cores assigned with 2GHz each and 2GB Ram it works fine if I try to assign any thing more than that it gives error on creating the Instance (VM)

Management and Compute node: Intel Core i5 3.10GHz , 8GB Ram, 300GB HDD, Intel Mobo

Compute Node: Intel Core i5 2.4GHz, 6GB Ram Memory, 640GB HDD, Intel Mobo

Please advise what shall I do now to create one big instance having 6 or 8 cores with atleast 15-16GHz performance and 8-10GB Ram memory.

from this compatibility matrix this combination should work, but when i try to add a host i get following message in the management log:

Only support XCP 1.0.0, 1.1.0, 1.5 beta; XenServer 5.6, XenServer 5.6 FP1, XenServer 5.6 SP2, Xenserver 6.0, 6.0.2, 6.0.9 but this one is XenServer 6.1.0

also the supplemental pack i cant install on 6.1.0.

is this yet unsupported or am i missing something??

This is so that we could allocate existing ESX servers to the cloud, they may already have a few VMs non CloudPortal related running in them.
Wondering if we could have for instance if we could use the processing power idle on those ESX servers and allocate it to our new cloud environment, unless CloudPlatform needs to have server dedicated to it 100 percent.

I'm trying to calculate the resources needed to deploy a cloud in our datacenter and see if we have all the required equipment as far as blades, storage and networking is concerned.

We are looking at deploying 96 blades, 72 GB RAM with dual CPUs and six core per processor.

My question is, how many VMs can we have max in this type of configuration? Assuming 40GB of space for primary storage for each VM, how much storage would we need? What type of storage will I need, fiber, sata, iscsi, combination? On the networking side I think a /20 will be fine as it will support 4K hosts.

Any help you can provide or reference material would be greatly appreciated.

I use cloudstack 3.0.5 with an Microsoft Active Directory.

I Fired up an LDAP API config Call and the log says that ldap ist configured an the hostname of my DC is printed on the screen.

However, i cannot see the ldap values when i search for ldap in global configuration.

I created a user in the OU which is the basedn but authentication does not work...

What i not understand - on the logon Page of CP, what i have to fill in domain? When i create a user in Cloudstack and assign them to a domain i must fill in this cloudstack domain on the login screen so that i able to logon.

But what is when i use LDAP?

Must i fill in the Domain field the domain of my AD?

And whats about the user creation process?

i create a user in the AD and then in cloudstack, but what i have to fill in at the password field? The same?

I download the Vm-templeastes and run 100 Procent Ok to the secondary storage.

But i can't creat instances it is empty. In step 2 of the wizard.

In templates i have this error under the templates:
Timeout waiting for response from storage host And Ready NO
Should be ready !!!

And on the dashboard cloudplatform a host alert:

(This is my secondary storage)

The Basic Setup Wizard run Ok no error ???...add secondary storage and everything.

DNS internally and Externally is 8.8.8.8 and can ping all way around and everything looks nice....

Set up everything around the CloudStack and the documentation was really good, until its time to use it.

It says in the documentation that:
If the encryption type is set to “web,” the administrator runs the utility com.cloud.utils.crypt.EncryptionSecretKeySender, which relays the key to the Management Server over a known port.

What is com.cloud.utils.crypt.EncryptionSecretKeySender ??? I´vre googled, Ive tried installing something but I cant figure out how to use this Encruption package. And since there isnt anything on the web it makes be frustrated..

I'm managing CloudPlatform(Cloudstack) 3.0.2 with XenServer 6.0.2.

I set the global configuration xen.setup.multipath as false because we didn't have a plan to use XenServer ISCSI Multi-path function at that time.

But these days we are considering the use of XenServer ISCSI Multi-path function with Hitachi AMS2500 to increase the performance.

We have 2 zones, 3 PODs(16 XenServer each) in each zone and we are planning to add another PODs to each zone with XenServers enabled the ISCSI Multi-path function.

I have 2 questions.
1. Do I have to change xen.setup.multipath parameter to enable Xenserver ISCSI Multi-path?
2. Are there any possible side effects that affect to the present 3 PODs?

I am looking for advice and/or documentation on how the CS Load Balancer API commands work and how they interact with Netscaler.

What I intend to do:
Write a script to enable a VM to assign itself to Netscaler through the CS API.

To better understand how it all works together, I would need more information on exactly how e.g. the createLoadBalancerRule (and the other) LB commands work and how they interact with Netscaler, also what settings it adds/changes on Netscaler. Without direct access to a working setup of CS and NS and trying it out, it's kind of hard to know!

I assume I can use "assignToLoadBalancerRule" to add a VM's private IP address to a Netscaler Service Group. Is this correct? Is there any more detailed documentation on this please, I can't find any?

I am not a linux guy at all, so I am trying to figure it out as I go. I am at the step to setup the database and I keep getting command not found when I type the command cloud-setup-databases. I get the same thing when I run cloud-setup-management. Can someone please help me get this installed.

I'm setting with the Cloudstack install guide from cloudstack.org and installing Citrix Cloudplatform 3.
IS THERE COMMING A INSTALL GUID FOR CITRIX CLOUDPLATFORM 3 ? the guid im setting with is not matching the cloudplatform 3.

I can't get the second cloudplatform manager up , the first one runs nice and i can login.....
I run the guid cloudstack 3.org And run:
install M on secondary and A agent install and then run this:

cloud-setup-databases cloud:root@localhost
cloud-setup-management

Runs OK with all Ok and DONE....

But i can't get a login page on http://secondaryIP-manager-server:8080/client it works fine on primary manager server.
I can ping secondary and the /etc/sysconfig/Iptables says accept 8080
And i cannot telnet to secondary IP on port 8080, On the first server i can telnet to 8080 on its IP.

Whats is the problem ?

I checked the IP/TCP connectivity between CloudStack server and vcenter server with "nmap" and these are the open ports (from CloudStack server to vcenter server):

I use CloudStack 3.0.2 version and CentOS 6.2, Vcenter is installed on Windows Server 2008 Ent. Ed. SP1 with disabled firewall (Domain, Private and Public is disabled). And both server are in the same subnet (192.168.10.0/24).

The vsphere cluster has two ESXi hosts (4.1 U2 version). The ESXi hosts have not any deployed VM.

In vcenter:
- the tomcat service is up & running (I checked with VMWARE VirtualCenter Management WebServices).
- the name of datacenter is "Datacenter".
- The name of cluster is "cluster".

These are the values I use to try adding a vmware cluster in CloudStack:

Hypervisor: VMware
Pod: Pod-1 (is Ok, and the zone is enabled previusly)
Cluster Name: cluster
vCenter Host: 192.168.10.31
vCenter Name: administrator
vCenter Password: K******
vCenter Datacenter: Datacenter

Other test, with RESTClient anwser to "192.168.10.31/sdk/vimService?wsdl" and the response was "Status Code= 200 OK" and then I suppose tomcat is responding, the URI is OK, the credentials are ok, and the message "Unable to connect to Vmware vSphere server" isn't totally true ...

I'm dummy using CloudStack: I apologize if any information has been discussed in others topics. But reading cloudstack.org forum I don't meet the solution to my issue.

Please, could you tell me how to fix this situation?? I don't know what else I can do ...
