Using "Advanced" networking with a network offering that uses a NetScaler as the load balancing provider.

When I add a guest network, at VM creation, in the UI, a random CIDR is defined. While this isn't ideal, I understand that it is expected behavior.

When I add a guest network, using the API, the "default" CIDR from the zone is defined and I am unable to launch VMs connected to the network, as "no ip address is available" (or something like that).

I would like to be able to create the network from the API and either define the CIDR at network creation or change it as a second step. If the second part is impossible, I can live with it, but I really need to be able to create Isolated networks, using the Netscaler offering, from ath API.

I was trying to change the password for the Xen hosts and I was reading the "Changing Host Password" chapter from CloudPlatform 3.0.6 Administrator's Guide.

The command:

mysql> update cloud.host set password='password' where id...

fails as there is no "password" column in that table. I thought that's a typo and I tried to figure out which table would actually have this column and be related to the hosts but I'm lost.

Does anyone knows what I'm missing?

Sometimes when adding an instance in CCP 3.0.6 using Chrome(Version 26.0.1410.64m), click the Launch VM button closes the wizard, but nothing else happens - no VM is created, nothing appears in the logs or on the Instance screen.

Enabling the Chrome debug reveals a response: 505 (HTTP Version Not Supported) when clicking Launch VM, here is the full debug when using the Add Instance wizard:

In CCP 3.0.6 when scrolling the Templates > ISO screen the last two ISO files repeat continuously as you scroll down the screen (see attached screenshot). The repeating ISO files have the same ID value. The CCP database contains only a single entry for each of these ISO files, so the problem appears to be with GUI.

The link to the Windows password management installer (CloudInstanceManager.msi) in section 13.13.2 of the CCP3.0.6 admin guide is broken.

What is the location for this installer?

I’ve run into a problem on a new cloud I’m building.

I am running CloudStack 3.02 in a test environment.
I am also running Xenserver 6.02 as well, and Centos 6.3
On the Controller admin unit and the NFS secondary storage
Unit.

I ran into an issue with secondary storage.

I can ping the secondary storage from the controller and the hypervisors.

The Storage VM is running (according to CloudStack).

I'm having some strange behaviour when I try to view the console from the management server UI. When I click on the view console icon I get a blue bar with Ctrl+Alt+Del, Ctrl+Esc, Keyboard and a black circle at the far right. I don't see the Linux prompt and when I click on the black circle I get a lot of debug info as shown in the attachment. This happens with all the vms (all Linux).

I don't see anything in the cloud-managment log to suggest anything.

Has anyone seen anything similar and how did they resolve the issue?

We have a CloudStack/Xenserver cloud in production.

We have a Xenserver HV2 (we have 3) is marked as DOWN in CloudStack (V3.02).

The VM's on HV2 are still running fine, and are accessible via the public network.

Force reconnect apparently does not force the unit back into the UP state.
How long does one typically have to wait to see if force reconnect is going
to work?

Is my next step to attempt to put HV2 into maintenance mode?

Hi

I'm trying the service provided by ScaleXtreme and I was able to configure my lab cloud environment using the API URL, the API key and the secret key. I was able to see the default CentOS 5 template but when I tried to deploy a VM from it I've got an error related to the network.
There is a way to enable API logs or to increase the verbosity? I found an api-server.log file in /var/log/cloud/management but the last record in that file is from January. The management-server.log doesn't show up much either.

Any idea would be highly appreciated. Thanks,

I have a problem, my ip range for the VM are were 5 but they are full even after destroying the virtual machines.
How can i access these ip and delete the adresses that are not in used anymore?

I have a couple of questions, any help would be highly appreciated !
1) I have a well established VMware environment (Means- its been there for a couple of years and running many prod servers and we manage them using vcenter). Now, if I want to implement cloudstack on top of this and manage the provisioning and tenancy, will it create conflicts with Vcenter based (future) change management? Will cloudstack track vcenter based changes (and vice versa)?
2) I would like to integrate Rightscale with my infra for hybrid cloud feature. I heard that Rightscale cannot manage Vmware directly. Have you seen any integration issues /challenges between Rightscale and Cloudstack (with underlying Vmware)?
Is it s better idea to create a new environment with Vmware,cloudstack and rightscale to have the hybrid feature without touching the existing vsphere prod environment?

and the ssvm state is running

I test mount -t nfs 192.168.1.10:/home/secondary/ /mnt/secondary on my xenserver(192.168.1.11) successed

I login to the ssvm(192.168.1.101) ping 192.168.1.10 success
test mount -t nfs 192.168.1.10:/home/secondary/ /mnt/secondary return :
mount.nfs: mount system call failed

what's the problem is?

I want to access mine cloudstack interface with my password and admin username. But everytime i get an error with invalid username and password. My cloud-management is running and so does my mysql.

Is there any manner to change my password of the cloudstack interface within the server that im running?

Hi Team,

We have some legacy hardware and we are about to use it to start testing the cloud platform as a proof of concept.

Basically, we have a spare EMC array, a couple of FC Switches and two old servers with their respective HBAs connected to the EMC array. All of this was part of an old two-node failover SQL Server Cluster. Servers are VT enabled and are in general fine for just testing.

I have read the installation manual and, for the moment, prior to installing, we have a question with regards of the FC storage; and the order of installation in case of XenServer hosts usage.

As per the guide (7.8 "Primary Storage Setup for XenServer") FiberChannel must be confiogured separately and Primary Storage should be added later.

Which is the proper order to add XenServer hosts and FC shared storage amongst these hosts?.

Is the XenServer pool created when the first host joins a cluster (first one being the pool master).?.

I understand that the full process is:

1. Install Xenserver hypervisors (Chapter 7)
2. Add XenServer hypervisors to the CloudPlatform Cluster (Cluster<Pod<Zone)
3. Configure FC on the XenServer host pool master.
4. Configure FC Storage (PreSetup, Chapter 6.6).

Hello All,

I seem to be banging my head against a wall with the way Cloud Platform deals with networking, so I'm hoping you lovely people can help me shed some light on the issues?

I am trying to add vCentre to my cloud platform installation and am using the Advanced Networking options when I add my zone. However, the vSwitch configuration doesn't seem to make sense. Before going into the issue, it may help that I run through my configuration:

Required Networks:

Public:
This is basically my DMZ for all clients (their virtual routers will recieve an IP on this network)

IP Range: 192.168.10.191 to 192.168.10.250
Default Gateway: 192.168.10.254 (currently a Cisco Device)
vlan: 13
VMWare Tag: vSwitch0

Private - Management
I believe this is used for CloudPlatform management tasks.

IP Range: 192.168.15.191 to 192.168.15.250
Default Gateway: 192.168.15.254 (currently a Cisco Device)
vlan: 815
VMWare Tag: vSwitch1

I also have a Netapp vfiler that has exported my secondary storage.

Private - Guest Traffic
This will be the guest network switch.

vlan Range: 500 to 900
VMWare Tag: vswitch0

Management Server:
I have my management server that is has two NICS, one is in both the management and public networks (this in in seperate PortGroups on a dedicated vswitch).

The Issue:

So this is all well and good. At the moment, I can ping between my Management and Public vlans (bear in mind this is a lab) from my Management Server.

So when I add the zone, pod, cluster and storage the process starts to build my System VMs. The first steps to this will create me the following PortGroups:

cloud.public.13.0.1-vSwitch0
cloud.private.untagged.0.1-vSwtich0
cloud.storage.untagged.0.1-vSwitch1
cloud.private.untagged.0.1-vSiwtch1

The ones that are in italic do not have a vlan tag. This is causing the management server to loose touch with the system VMs. If I manually tag the port group or reconnect my management server/VMs to a port group with the correct tags, it all works.

So here is my question, am I setting everything up correctly, and this is just how cloudstack does it?

Is there a way I can force my portgroup for Management/Storage to use a dedicated vlan (815 in this case)?

Hello All,

I am having an issue with my Cloud Platform Storage. My hyper-visor is vmware and I have the storage added as vmfs.

Due to me getting some configuration settings wrong, which has caused issues with deploying my system VMs. So to resolve this, I am trying to put my primary storage in maintenance so my vms go into a stopped state so I can remove them. I was able to start the process, but it hasn't changed for the last hour or so. When I check the status I see:

PrepareForMaintenance

When I try to cancel maintenance mode I can see Storage Unreachable due to status: PrepareForMaintence.

Is there any way I can force this out of maintenance mode so I can kick of the rebuild for my system vms?

My management-server.log shows the following:

I am running Cloudplatform 3.0.5 with Xenserver 6.0.2 and I've setup a zone with basic networking with security groups. In the install guide it states that you must switch Xenserver to bridged networking mode if you are using basic networking. However, when my Xenserver host is using bridge mode, my Secondary Storage VM cannot resolve any DNS, despite the fact that it can ping outside IPs. This makes Cloudplatform unable to download templates.

Is this normal behavior (which isn't documented), or if not why would bridge mode stop the SSVM from being able to pull DNS records from nameservers despite the SSVM being able to ping those nameservers.

I tried this several times and even destroyed the SSVM and rebooted the management server in between, and I always got the same results. Here's what I got after running the ssvm-check.sh script:

When Xenserver 6.0.2 HV is in bridge mode:

I'm trying to install CloudPlatform. To do so I've downloaded the tar gz archive from CloudPlatform trial. It is called CloudStack-3.0.6-1-rhel6.2.tar.gz (md5sum 8768763fce0c91747a1ecb4fa51dfff2). Then I follow the TrialInstallGuide.pdf. It says that an install.sh script is to be found in the archive. I only have a folder with 4 RPMs. And they require dependencies to cloud-utils and cloud-deps which I don't have.
And the tar.gz file seems to be corrupted as I get errors when decompressing it.
Is anyone facing the same issue ?

But download.cloud.com/templates/acton/acton-systemvm-02062012.vhd.bz2 gives me a "403 - forbidden". Was the location changed recently?

what is the time line for supporting XenServer 6.1 in CloudStack 4.0?

I just upgraded the hosts to 6.1 and got this error:
"Only support XCP 1.0.0, 1.1.0, 1.5 beta; XenServer 5.6, XenServer 5.6 FP1, XenServer 5.6 SP2, Xenserver 6.0, 6.0.2, 6.0.9 but this one is XenServer 6.1.0"
